The FCA is the umbrella group for civil society organizations that was instrumental in the development and ratification of the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC), an international treaty that has been in effect since 2005. We are a global alliance of nearly 500 members in more than 100 countries that is now working around the world to monitor governments’ compliance with the treaty and promote national-level implementation of treaty provisions.
The FCA has a small staff distributed across five continents, with a secretariat in Ottawa, Canada.
Job Summary
The FCA is seeking a full-time Advocacy Officer with a vision of how to communicate solutions to the deadliest killer facing the world – the tobacco epidemic – and the hands-on skills and enthusiasm to assist that work day-to-day in the Africa Region.
The position is based in Yaoundé – Cameroon and will report directly to the AFRO Regional Coordinator.
The Advocacy Officer is expected to provide programme support to the regional coordinator in varied activities including grants administration, advocacy, multi-government lobbying, and civil society capacity building on various topics that are in line with FCA’s strategic priorities.
