Job Title: Translation Intern (Spanish as third language)

Expert Versions (www.expertversions.com) is seeking a Translation Intern for a six months internship which could lead to full time employment.  The candidate must be based in Douala- Cameroon and available to start work within the month of June 2019 and will be working for about 4 to 6 hours daily. The Intern is responsible for providing Translation services for content which will be disseminated through a variety of channels, print, digital, web, video and others as assigned.

Duties & Responsibilities

The intern will work under the supervision of the Director of Translation & Content. Responsibilities include the following:

• Reads through or listens to material in one language, ascertains understanding of the meaning and context of that material, and converts it into a second language, making sure to preserve the original meaning
• Translates online, video, and television media by providing subtitles
• Consults with subject matter experts and other colleagues in order to understand specialised concepts and translate them appropriately
• Refers to online translation tools for additional assistance with translation
• Follows up with clients to ensure satisfaction and understanding
• Uses highly specialised translation software to encourage efficiency and consistency
• Translates a variety of documents including administrative, legal, research, technical, financial, medical and business materials
• creates glossaries or term dictionaries

Translator Skills and Qualifications

• Atleast a Bachelor’s degree in translation
• Fluency in at Least Two Languages with Spanish as third language
• Written and Verbal Communication
• Interpersonal Communication, Accuracy, Attention to Detail
• Software Proficiency,
• Ability to Meet Deadlines,
• Ability to Work Under Pressure
• The ability to grasp new concepts and technical terms quickly
• A clear writing style with an impeccable knowledge of spelling and grammar
• The ability to build good relationships with clients.
