Title: Programme Assistant/Nutrition
Grade: SB5

Supervision received: the Nutrition Programme Assistant reports directly to the Head of Sub Office and in liaison with the CO Nutrition focal point.
Accontabilities: Within an assigned area, the Programme Assistant will be resopnsible for the following duties: (These duties are generic and thus not all inclusive nor are all duties carried out by all Programme Assistants)
- Assist in Nutrition and HIV project Design and implementation;
- Monitoring and supervise all WFP Nutrition interventions in the East and Adamoua region of Cameroon;
- Assist in conducting training of WFP field staff, Government counterparts and NGO partners on nutrition and HIV commodity management and project implementation, as necessary;
- Adjust work of those directly under supervision in challenging circumstances;
- Represent WFP in coordination meetings with Government and other UN agencies specially in the field of Nutrition.
- Make sure screening is regularly and correctly carried out by implementing partners and related reports are shared every month in order to measure the impact of the project;
- Collect, consolidate and reconcile data on WFP Nutrition and HIV Interventions in the East and Adamaoua region;
- Prepare periodic projections of commodity requirements/commitments and sent timely call forward by project and by country based on incoming data from field, country and regional offices and input data into the WFP Information Systems;
- Prepare and submi monthly and periodic reports on WFP Nutrition and HIV interventions in the East and Adamaoua regions.
- Review and reconcile a variety of operational reports;
- Monitor pipeline information;
- Prepare nutrition periodic reports, statictical information and tables;
- Liaise with other units to resolve issues and clarify or obtain additional information;
- Maintain accurate records and files within the field of work;
- Draft correspondence related to the field of work;
- Propose methods to enhance work process.
- Proactively identify potential problems in work unit and implements measures to avoid them.
- Develop strategies to quickly respond in high pressure situations and systems to organize complex data for future use.
- Consolidate data obtained from multiple sources. Identify areas where further research and analysis are necessary.
- Analyze and process requests for a variety of data;
- Perform other related duties as required.
Results Expected: Processing of work and related follow up done under general supervision. Use of own discretion to address unforeseen situations seeking advice from and/or reporting to supervisor as applicable.
Critical Success Factors:
- Ability to spell and write correctly in French and English;
- ability to maintain accurate and precise records and to interpret and analyze a variety of data and resolve discrepancies.
- Ability to work accurately and systematically; to identify and resolve data discrepancies and operational problems.
- Ability to perform detailed work and to handle a large volume.
- Ability to learn and adapt fast to high pressure situations.
Education:
- Secondary school education, preferably supplemented by courses in a field of Nutrition related to WFP programmatic activities.
Experience
- At least four years of progressiively responsible support or secretarial work experience including at least two years in the field of Nutrition most especially in management of Acute Malnutrition. accounting, transport, insurance, statistics, operations or other related field. At least one year at G4 level or equivalent.
Knowledge:
- Experience utilising computers including work processing, spreadsheet and other software packages.
- Knowledge on WFP's Nutrition interventions such as blanket feeding and targeted supplementary feeding will be an asset.
Language:
- Fluency in both oral and written communication in the UN language in use at the duty station and in the duty station's language, if different.
Desirable skills:(Additional skills which the candidate should possess to provide a competitive edge versus other candidates)
- Proficiency in a second official WFP language; training and/or experience using other WFP software; knowledge of WFP financial regulations and rules, and WFP policies and procedures in the area of work;
