CALL FOR APPLICATION

As part of a Wellcome Trust project led by Professor Charles WONDJI, the Centre for Research in Infectious Diseases (CRID) is launching a call for application addressed to young students, residing or not in Cameroon, for PhD projects.

These projects will run for 3 years and focus on the molecular basis of resistance in malaria vectors and its impact on malaria transmission. This will involve various aspects such as the use of Next-generation sequencing, Genetic mapping, Microbiome analysis, functional genomics, mosquito biology, population genetics and more.

The applicant must have completed their Master’s degree in the past 3 years in Biochemistry, Microbiology, Biology or any other biomedical field. He or she must demonstrate competences in either genetics, molecular biology, biochemistry, entomology, epidemiology, statistics and phylogenetic analysis with an appreciable level in oral and written English.

The project will be carried out in the CRID laboratory at Nkoleton, Yaoundé. The selected candidate will be fully involved in study design, field expedition, laboratory work and any other task associated to the project. He or she must be able to critically analyze his project, integrate, collaborate and interact with a multi-disciplinary research team.

Shortlisted candidates will be called for an interview on the 09th and 10th March 2020 and the selected ones (05) will start their PhD on April 1st, 2020.
