The Institute for Research, Socio-economic Development and Communication (IRESCO) is an apolitical, non-confessional and non-profit organization whose mission is to contribute to the improvement of the quality of life of African populations through the promotion and implementation of viable development initiatives, based on research evidence. To effectively accomplish its mission, IRESCO relies on qualified personnel, recruited through a transparent, competitive and fair selection process. In order to conduct a behavioral survey on malaria, IRESCO is seeking applications for the following position:

SURVEYORS (MALE & FEMALE) (Constitution du vivier)

Duration of the mission: 20 days

Location: Candidates should reside in the town of Buea (South-West region) or Bamenda (North West Region).

GENERAL OBJECTIVE of the recruited surveyors: Conduct a survey with households

SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES:

• Get in contact with target households;
• Carry out interviews with households’ heads or representatives;
• Collect data from these targets while making sure that the interviewee has understood the question asked very well;
• Respect the rules of neutrality and the dignity of respondents during data collection;
• Respect the time allotted for each questionnaire;
• Write a daily report in the required format.

REQUIRED PROFILE:

• Minimum A level + 2 with training in the fields of social sciences, health;
• Experience in conducting household surveys would be an asset;
• Experience in collecting mobile data via applications on digital media.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

• Fluency in English and Pidjin English coupled with knowledge of local languages ​​of the North West and South West regions;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Ability to cover a long distance on foot;
  • Strong adaptation to areas that are difficult to access;
  • Dynamic and rigorous. 

RECRUITMENT PROCEDURE

The recruitment procedure at IRESCO includes 3 key steps:

Preselection for participation in training:

1. A pre-selection on the basis of the submitted file (only candidates whose skills and experiences correspond to the profile described in the offer are selected for the written test)

2. An oral interview
