About Us: COOKO LTD is dedicated to revolutionizing the cocoa industry by creating first mile traceability and implementing improved cacao quality practices and quality assurance. We work closely with farmers to ensure the highest standards from harvest to distribution. This role will be a permanent position at our COOKO research facility in Ntui, Cameroon.

Job Title: Quality & HSE Coordinator

Location: Ntui, Cameroon - site based position

Reporting To: Site Manager

Start Date: Exact date to be confirmed. September 2024

Position Overview: As the Quality & HSE Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining and enhancing our quality assurance processes and Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards. You will collaborate closely with operational staff and farmers, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure quality control and traceability through the cocoa post harvesting process (fermentation, drying, cleaning, packaging and storage) according to the current SOP (Standard Operating Procedure).
  • Capture data and ensure accuracy throughout the process.
  • Administer the organization's Quality Management System (QMS), including document control, record-keeping, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions
  • Provide training and guidance to employees on quality-related procedures and best practices.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve quality issues and implement process improvements.
  • Develop and maintain a robust quality assurance framework, focusing on post-harvest processes and data integrity.
  • Perform inspection and testing of in-progress cocoa batches and record all informations digitally in google sheets  
  • Approve cocoa transition from one processing step to another by conforming to specifications and regular sampling.
  • Implement HSE initiatives to enhance safety protocols and mitigate risks across operations.
  • Conduct inspections, audits, and root cause analysis investigations, reporting findings and recommending corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with farmers to optimize farming practices and improve cocoa quality.
  • Train and upskill operational staff to ensure compliance to SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
  • Identify hazards and potential risks and take actions for prevention.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quality & HSE management or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Quality Assurance and 2 years in HSE.
  • Fluency in English and French is a prerequisite for this role
  • Candidates from manufacturing and FMCG backgrounds will be preferred
  • Certified in one or more QHSE disciplines, such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, or OHSAS 18001/ISO 45001
  • Cocoa experience is a bonus but not a prerequisite.
  • Strong knowledge of quality control methodologies and regulatory compliance.
  • Proficiency in Google Sheets, Forms, and other data management tools.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
