The U.S. Embassy in Yaoundé is seeking an individual for the position of Travel Clerk/Expeditor/Driver, FSN-06; FP-08.

The closing date for this position is January 13, 2015.

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION

Under the direct supervision of the Senior General Service Officer and operational guidance from Travel Assistant and Motor Pool Supervisor, incumbent provides expediting, driving, and a range of clerical travel services to U.S. Mission employees.

Duties include:

  • preparing all type of travel documents such as travel authorizations, requests for foreign visas, diplomatic notes, country clearances; 
  • Meeting and assisting official travelers;
  • Making airline and hotel reservations;
  • Driving assigned vehicle within the city or vicinity, keeping assigned vehicle clean and in presentable condition at all times, keeping track of vehicle operation records, making minor repairs as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Education: Completion of High School(GCE "A" level, Baccalauréat or equivalent) is required.
  • Experience: At least three years' driving experience in travel and/or tourism, with at least one year serving as driver/expediter, is required.
  • Language: Good Working knowledge Reading/Writing/Speaking English and French are required and will be tested.
  • Knowledge: Applicants must have a good working knowledge of travel logistics, airport, hotels, city streets and districts. Job knowledge may be tested.
  • Skills/Abilities: Incumbent must be able to pass the pre-employment eye examination. Incumbent is expected to be highly flexible in terms of being able to work during the week and weekends to cover mission requirements; must have a good mechanical skills and know routine maintenance checks and service for vehicles; must be computer literate in Microsoft Word and other software programs used pertaining to this position.

A valid driver's license(Categories B, C and D) is required.

Skills and abilities may be tested.
