POSITION: Part-Time Technical Trainers for TEFL (Education Program)

The United States Peace Corps Cameroon is recruiting Part-Time TEFL Technical Trainers for its community Based Pre-Service Training (PST), in Ebolowa, Cameroon. The selected Candidates will have to reside in Ebolowa, where Peace Corps Training takes place. The position requires a great degree of energy, flexibility and creativity.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Prepare technical training for in-coming volunteers
• Conduct Pre-training Research to prepare task analyses, identify resources, and clarify training goals with Peace Corps staff
• Deliver technical training, including: practical instructions; classroom activities; facilitation of field exercises; supervision of Trainee Directed Activities (TDAs); assistance to Trainees in preparation of projects; individual support to Trainees
• Assess Trainee progress(newer volunteers are called trainees until they swear-in after training)
• Participate, as needed, in design and delivery of follow up Volunteer in-service trainings (ISTs )
• Provide weekly and end of training reports
• Collaborate with other technical and language trainers and model school principal and vice to implement and evaluate training
• Accountability to the Director of Programming and Training

Required Qualifications:

• A DIPES II or Masters in English or Applied Linguistics or language teaching in English Modern Letters or a related field
• Has at least 4 years’ experience in teaching experience mixed ability francophone learners of English.
• Experience with BEPC or Probatoire or Baccalaureat Examinations
• Excellent oral communication skills in English
• Experience working in cross-cultural settings, sensitivity and familiarity with diversity of American and Cameroonian cultures
