Plan Cameroon is looking for suitable candidates for one year renewable contract to fulfill the following positions;

Title: Project Accountant

Duty Station: Yaoundé

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES

Under the authority of the business Analyst, the project accountant will among other tasks perform the following:

• Participates in budget process and ensures that the budget to be recovered from grants is highlighted and insert in the grant portion of the budget;
• Participates in the review of the grant proposal to ensure that part of the budget is allocated to cover regular Plan expenditures (salaries, rent, utilities…)
• Review all grants  projects Outline (PO) to ensure that the overhead in the proposal has been inserted in an account line;
• Ensure that journal entries have been prepared in a monthly basis for the salary cost recovery;
• Ensure that the overhead budget has been consumed in a monthly basis through payment and journal vouchers;
• Prepare a Budget Versus Actual from overhead budget in a monthly basis;
• Prepare the cost recovery report in a monthly basis based on the approved budget before recording to the general Ledger (Accounting system);
• Be ready to support the program Unit (PU) when 
• the Finance Coordinator is on leave or not available to perform the job;

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• University degree in Accounting/Finance/Management
• At least 3 (three) years’ experience in a similar role or grants management 
• Fair Knowledge of project management,
• Good experience and knowledge of accounting and grant funds management regulations and procedures
• Good experience and knowledge on internal financial controls and procedures.

Travel requirement

The position of project Accountant requires much travelling (75%) to be done like travelling to work in Plan Cameroon’s Program Units (Regional Offices).

SKILLS & BEHAVIORS:

• Good team player ( ability to work in a team)
• Proficient in Microsoft application especially spread sheets (e.g. Excel)
• Good communication skills both oral and writing 
• Ability to work under pressure and deliver to tight deadlines
• Soft-starter and innovative
• Good English and French is an asset
