Within the context of Emergency Response to Refugees from Nigeria Plan Cameroon is urgently seeking to recruit experienced, enthusiastic, humanitarian-oriented and hardworking Cameroonian for six months duration to fulfill the positions below.

While funding is only guaranteed for 6 months at the point of advertising, Plan is seeking longer-term funding and the operation in the Far North Regions will be operating for much longer than 6 months.

Title: (01) Wash Officer

Duty station: Maroua

Main duties and responsibilities

Under the authority of the Emergency Response coordinator, the Wash Officer will among many other tasks perform the following

• Ensure the availability of accurate, complete and up-to-date information required for effective WASH programmer and project design, implementation, management, monitoring and evaluation
• Implements Wash component of the emergency  response ensuring  that they meet minimum sphere standards
• Supervise wash activities of emergency response project in the Far North Region (IDPs/Nigerian refugees), giving support to the plan Cameroon team is planning and implementing water activities and/or sanitation
• Take part in the proposal development and budget monitoring and perform hardware controls and equipment for water activities, according to procedures and financials controls
• Follow up on queries or initiate corrective action on discrepancies. Collaborate with monitoring & evaluation office on maintaining a gender & equity focus in WASH data-collection and reporting
• Represent plan to governmental and non-governmental groups as needed and agreed with the team leader

Qualification and experience

• A university degree in water hygiene and sanitation, civil engineering, public health or any relevant degree 
• Qualified water/civil/environment/sanitation/hydrology engineering with a proven practical background in water supply and sanitation design works and proven experience inn sanitation and public health programmer implementation 
• Minimum of one successful assignment in an emergency situation/context
• Have o good knowledge and understanding of DO NO HARM principles and established international child protection standards (especially UNCRC)
• Mastery of the sphere minimum standards in water supply sanitation and hygiene promotion
