Within the context of Emergency Response to Refugees from Nigeria Plan Cameroon is urgently seeking to recruit experienced, enthusiastic, humanitarian-oriented and hardworking Cameroonian for six months duration to fulfill the positions below.

While funding is only guaranteed for 6 months at the point of advertising, Plan is seeking longer-term funding and the operation in the Far North Regions will be operating for much longer than 6 months.

Title: (1) Education in Emergency Officer

Duty station: Maroua

Main duties and responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Emergency Response Coordinator the education in Emergency Officer Will among many other tasks perform the following

• Conduct initial rapid assessment of current situation in collaboration with local specialists and affected population determine priorities and immediate activities and resources
• Represent plan to in education clusters, stakeholders and governmental and non-government agencies (and military where present) for the purposes of the education aspects of the assessment at regional level
• Identify potential partnerships to implement recommendations on how to fill gaps
• Make frequent field visits to all affected areas to monitor implementation of activities, identify opportunities and constraints and any adjustments needed including additional staffing or staff training or other
• Evaluate the implementationof plan education activities and draft recommendations from improved program design
• Prepare education interventions reports to serve as standalone deliverables or to be included in larger emergency response reports for both donor and internal purposes

Qualification and experience

• University degree in education or related field with good knowledge of education principles and emergency response
• Proven professional experience in education, child protection, psychosocial support, humanitarian affairs, human right, and related field
• Minimum of one successful assignment in an emergency situation/context
• Have o good knowledge and understanding of DO NO HARM principles and established international child protection standards (especially UNCRC)
• Experience with participatory approaches to education, emergency preparedness, crisis/emergency relief management, or other related area. Experience in the country of potential assignment is an asset
