LABORATORY TECHNICIAN

The incumbent in this position will be responsible for the monitoring, evaluating, recording and physical testing of all quality related function on wheat, wheaten flour (s), improvers, vitamin enrichment and bran.

Job functions

• Accountable for performing routine and non- routine instrument maintenance and calibration.
• Maintain and record instrument calibrations.
• Perform quality test such as but not limited to: Moisture, Ashes, Protein, Alveograph, Mixograph, Farinograph, Sieving, Weighing, 
• Monitor daily condition of instruments
• Evaluating test result and reporting there of as well as recommending remedial action.
• Adhere to proper labelling and documentation procedure for standards, parameters, etc.
• Familiarize with standard operating procedures and best practices.
• Conduct proper sample retention, traceability, storage and disposal methods
• Liaise and resolve customer complaints.
• Validate new methods for business growth or for customer request and work on improving the efficiency of existing methods and SOPs as per instruction by Senior Management.
• Data entry on Microsoft Excel/ database
• Conduct sampling in regular intervals.
• Provide accurate and timely result and reports.

Minimum requirements

• A post-secondary education (degree or diploma) in a science related program (Chemistry, Agriculture and food science).
• Previous experience and exposure the wheat milling industry is preferred and will be advantageous.
• Minimum 3 years in a similar capacity.
• Familiar with Agriculture / food / milling matrixes.
• Sound knowledge of good laboratory practices
• Knowledge of ISO 9001/ HACCP will be advantageous.
• Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Fully Bi-lingual in French and English is not negotiable.
• Flexibility to work extended hours from time to time.
