Head of corporate Affairs, Brand & Marketing, Cameroon

JOB PURPOSE

The purpose of this role is to provide thought leadership in leading and building the country corporate affairs and brand and marketing functions, and delivering on the here for the good brand promise with clients, community, staff, government and media stakeholders.

It is also to ensure that the country’s internal and external communication, sustainability and public affairs programmers are well implemented in order to maintain the Bank’s share of voice  in the local media, profile the band as a market leader, the leader, to build and protect the image and reputation of the Bank and maintain good relations with all stakeholders. Strategically, the role holder carries the responsibility of supporting the country business units to deliver business results, while serving the higher purpose of achieving the bank’s strategic aspirations.

KEY RESPONSABILITIES

The successful candidates will be responsible will be for delivering both the corporate Affairs and Brand & Marketing functions across the following areas:

  • Drive the public affairs agenda ensuring enhanced engagement with local stakeholders in alignment with group’s government relations toolkit and the bank’s apolitical stance 
  • Develop and execute an external communications (including media relation) plan which ensures that the bank maintains its position as a trusted source and partner supported by solid relationships with key stakeholders and well-crafted messages. Ensure that the bank also maintains a high share of voice in the media
  • In collaboration with the CEO, Country HR and compliance teams develop and implement an effective internal communications structure which promotes the bank culture, its people and conduct agenda. Ensure that this structure feeds into the bank’s regional and group internal communications channels effectively profiling the country 
  • Drive the implementation of an issues management structure which aligns with the group’s and ensures an effective reputational risk process which delivers efficient monitoring, mitigation and escalation
  • In line with the bank’ brand the group‘s which delivers on the bank’s contribution to sustainable economic development, being a responsible company and investing in our communities.
  • Develop an integrated marketing calendar to deliver the country business agenda and regularly update the calendar in line with business priorities
  • Ensures compliance with the bank’s global brand and marketing guidelines in tone, look and feel
  • Develop an integrated marketing plan for each campaign and execute it end-to-end, ensuring that all marketing campaigns live up to our brand promise of here for good. Additionally to track and report the impact of each campaigns in accordance with pre-defined campaigns metrics (e.g., ROMI) with support of regional/country analytics team 
  • Conduct a country brand & marketing council (CBMC) in line with global terms of reference
  • Leverage regional brand & marketing resources to adopt/adapt existing campaigns whenever possible, to save time and cost
  • Build an integrated approach to leverage sponsorship assets & sustainability 
  • Draw on research insight, to support development of customer value propositions 
  • Manage advertising, media agencies and all other vendors to achieve cost effectiveness & quality output
  • Leverage digital marketing to increase awareness & utilization of digital banking platforms
  • The successful candidate will also be responsible for the effective management of both the corporate Affairs and Brand and Marketing budgets and the related reporting

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • A good university degree in communications, Public relations or related discipline. Professional qualification (s) will be an added advantage
  • Proven track record of experience with strong interpersonal skills capable of developing relationships with individuals from across different areas, internally and externally
  • Sound understanding of the banking industry in Cameroon
  • Flexibility to work across different situations globally, and change priorities at short notice 
  • Excellent communication, people and negotiation skills
  • Strong analytical and writing skills
