Function and Grade: Finance Officer
Duty station: Bamenda with extensive travel required within the region and occasionally beyond

BACKGROUND
MBOSCUDA is a grassroots development organization that operates in 7 out of the 10 regions of Cameroon. The North West Chapter is seeking to recruit a full time Finance Officer for the Big Lottery Funded “In Search of Common Ground” Project. This multi-year project aims to reduce conflicts between crop farmers and cattle herders, and to facilitate equitable and sustainable access to natural resources such as land and water. The project operates in 23 communities in all the 7 divisions of the North West Region.
JOB PURPOSE
Under the supervision of the Programme Coordinator,the Finance Officer will beresponsible for the formulation,implementation, monitoring and evaluation of budgetary activities. He/she will ensure the judicious management of available funds, and interpret financial policies and other applicable rules and regulations.
JOB DUTIES AND TASKS
- Develop, implement, review, document and keep financial records in compliance with the OHADA accounting system, making use of current ICT;
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and principles by using relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations or standards;
- Develop, maintain, implement and analyse budgets, preparing periodic financial reports that trackbudgeted lines to actual expenditure as well as deviations;
- Develop and build teamwork by encouraging mutual trust, respect and cooperation among programme team members for a conducive working environment;
- Responsible for getting relevant financial information from relevant sources that facilitates project implementation;
- Communicate with supervisors and staff by providing relevant financialinformation to promote informed decision-making;
- Facilitate the interpretation of financial information for others by translating or explaining what information means and how it can be used;
- Perform day-to-day administrative activities and tasks such as maintaining information files and processing paperwork;
- Monitor and controlorganizationalresources by overseeing the use of material resources and the spendingpatterns of funds in compliance with approved budget lines;
- Prepare user-friendly forms and manuals for accounting and bookkeeping for personnel and supervise the use of such forms;.
- Fully collaborate with, and support internal controls;
- Fully collaborate with, and support external audits;
- Maintain and update assets inventory for the organization;
- Write quarterly financial reports;
- Write annual financial reports;
- Carry out any other duties that are fit and proper for this position.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Note: All applicants must address each selection criteria detailed below with specific comprehensive information supporting each item. The recruitment will involve 3 stages (shortlisting base on clear criteria, practical and oral questions)
- Holder of a university degree in accounting, finance or business administration;
- At least threeyears’ experience in professional accounting;
- Familiarity with the Mbororo people and issues surrounding their development is an added advantage.

- Proven communication skills (both written and verbal English skills);(Ability to read, write and speak basic French);
- Ability to organize, plan and prioritize work by developing specific goals and plans that facilitate the accomplishment of work;
- Ability to make decisions and critically solve problems by analysing information and evaluating results to choose the best solution to problems;
- Ability to organise and accurately complete multiple tasks by establishing priorities while taking into consideration special assignments, frequent interruptions, deadlines and available resources;
- Ability to establish and maintain interpersonal working relationships with all staff and partners.
