Title of the Position: Linkage agents

Background of the contracting organization

The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF, or the Foundation), a non-profit organization, is the world leader in the fight to eliminate pediatric AIDS. Its mission is to prevent pediatric HIV infection and to eliminate pediatric AIDS through research, advocacy, and prevention and treatment programs. The Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation (EGPAF) has worked in Cameroon since 2000 through local and established international organizations and presently has an established office in Cameroon.

Responsibilities:

Under the responsibility and supervision of the Technical Officer, the linkage agent will have the following responsibilities

• Assist in the identification and documentation of children of unknown HIV status at the different entry points to care and link them to the attending service providers for PITC
• Physically accompany the children of unknown status after PITC to the sample collection/testing point and ensure the return of results and child to the PITC service provider after the test for post-test counselling
• Physically accompany the HIV+ case after the post-test counselling to the care and treatment unit and follow-up their enrolment and initiation on HAART
• Actively identify and track cases of unknown HIV status who were not tested, or were tested but did not receive results, or who received results but were not enrolled in care and treatment
• Actively track HIV+ children who were not enrolled in to care and initiated on ARV
• Use the HIV+ adult to track the testing of the children and the HIV+ child to track the testing of the siblings
• Attend all coordination meetings with regards to pediatric HIV/AIDS
• Prepare and submit weekly and monthly reports on linkages along the care cascade at the coordination meetings and to the Technical Officer

Required qualifications:

Training: A minimum of GCE O/L

Experience: At least 03 years working in a health care setting

Skills: Excellent communication skills with patients, service providers and the general public

Language: Good mastery French and English will be an added advantage

Duration of the contract: 05 months’ contract.
