JOB VACANCY

Global Viral(GV) is recruiting for a LABORATORY DIRECTOR with experience with experience in virology and molecular biology and laboratory management. The position will be based at the GV's Yaoundé laboratory based at the Military Health Research Center(CRESAR).

About the Gloval Viral Cameroon

Global Viral Cameroon(GVC) is a foreign Association whose mission is to promote understanding, exploration and stewardship of the microbial world. GVC has conducted pandemic prevention research in Central Africa for more than 14 years.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in virology, microbiology, public health/epidemiology and/or MD(with infectious disease background) as well as experience coordinating research studies or primary health care projects. Ten or more years working on disease surveillance, laboratory sciences, pandemic preparedness, and/or early detection and verification of infectious diseases is highly desirable.
• Successul candidates must have the following qualifications:
• PhD in virology,microbiology, molecular biology, or related field preferred
• Direct experience in pathogen detection through molecular methods
• Experience in leading or contributing to development of funding opportunities from international funders such as the US Government, European Union, Private funders such as foundations(e.g. Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation) and international multilateral organizations(e.g. Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria)
• Knowledge of and experience in personnel management
• Working knowledge of human subject institutional review board procedures and requirements
• Ability to work independently, to plan and prioritize work with minimal supervision
• Effective leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, especially within diverse international settings
• Available to travel domestically and internationally up to 10% of the time
• Fluent in French and English(written and spoken)
