Within the context of Emergency Response to Refugees from Nigeria Plan Cameroon is urgently seeking to recruit experienced, enthusiastic, humanitarian-oriented and hardworking Cameroonian for six months duration to fulfill the positions below.

While funding is only guaranteed for 6 months at the point of advertising, Plan is seeking longer-term funding and the operation in the Far North Regions will be operating for much longer than 6 months.

Title: (1) Security Officer

Duty station: Maroua

Main duties and responsibilities

Under the supervision of the emergency response Coordinator the security officer will among many other tasks perform the following tasks:

• Analyze the parameters of the working environement by assessing the nature of the threats and plan vulnerabilities in relation to the emergency situation
• Collect the necessary data and information to develop a comprehensive security risk situation
• Monitor political, social, economic and military situation and identify trends relevant to security situation
• Contribute to develop a safety and security culture within the mission by addressing and helping staff to addresssafety and security related issues
• Ensure that security planning becomes an integral part of day-to-day operations and is integrated into the development of future programs including appropriate budgeting
• Assist with the strategic and operational analysis and assements, and with the refinement of program strategies
• Perform security risk assessments or evaluation missions to the field and regularly review safety  and security procedures
• Ensure the PU is meeting minimum standards and complying with policies and procedures

Qualification and experience

• High level of experience in developing security related technical tools guidelines and systems
• Qualifications and / or experience in professional security related fields (e.g. police, army experience would be an asset)
• 3-5 years humanitarian aid experience in emergency, war or post war contexts

Physical environment and demands

• Frequent travels
