Job description

Does the open road call to you? Do you love the feel of the wind in your head? Then the life of a delivery man may be the right life for you. Simply put, delivery man transport goods from one place to another. 

A delivery man is primarily concerned with ensuring that they deliver the packages on time and in good repair. They must do this in accordance with company policies and regulations, and in all weather conditions. They will also pick up deliveries as required and ensuring they are processed and responsible for ensuring that packages and documents are delivered on time and that the package is undamaged. They must follow all company policies and regulations in regarding the company policies and regulations when doing so in all types of weather conditions. They may also train new employees in this field.

We are looking for a responsible delivery man to distribute products promptly to our customers. You will represent our company in a professional and cost effective manner which aims at increasing profitability and customer satisfaction.

Delivery man transfer goods from areas to personal homes and businesses. No formal education is required for the job, but delivery man, of course, need a driver's license and a clean driving record. The job may include filling out papers, loading and unloading goods, and talking with customers. Hours can be long, and the job may be physically taxing. Delivery man may have to work evenings and weekends

You will be responsible for delivering goods on time, taking care of your bike, truck, refueling and obeying traffic laws. As a delivery man you might transport cars one day, clothing the next and livestock the day after that. One thing is for sure: you'll be on the road more often than not. We're betting you've seen a food delivery driver or two in your time - after all, our delivery man fall into this category. As a food delivery man, you'll deliver food to people's homes, take money and make change. Part of your paycheck will come from tips, so you'll want to be fast and friendly. You'll also need to have your own wheels. As well as delivering goods, drivers must be able to perform various administrative duties such as giving out invoices, filling in forms and getting signatures from the customers. The delivery driver also has to keep accurate records of mileage, fuel purchase and other costs incurred while on duty 

Responsibilities

Obey traffic laws and follow established traffic and transportation procedures.

Inspect and maintain vehicle supplies and equipment, such as gas, oil, water, tires, lights, or brakes, to ensure that vehicles are in proper working condition.

Report any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles.

Present bills and receipts and collect payments for goods delivered or loaded.

Load and unload trucks, vans, or automobiles.

Verify the contents of inventory loads against shipping papers.

Turn in receipts and money received from deliveries.

Sell and keep records of sales for products from truck inventory.

Maintain records, such as vehicle logs, records of cargo, or billing statements, in accordance with regulations.

Drive vehicles with capacities under three tons to transport materials to and from specified destinations, such as railroad stations, plants, residences, offices, or within industrial yards.

Drive trucks equipped with public address systems through city streets to broadcast announcements for advertising or publicity purposes.

Read maps and follow written or verbal geographic directions.

Use and maintain the tools or equipment found on commercial vehicles, such as weighing or measuring devices.

Report delays, accidents, or other traffic and transportation situations to bases or other vehicles, using telephones or mobile two-way radios.

Perform emergency repairs, such as changing tires or installing light bulbs, fuses, tire chains, or spark plugs.

Drive vehicles to designated destinations for customer product deliveries. 

Drive safely and deliver products within deadlines. 

Analyze delivery address, determine appropriate routes and maintain schedule. 

Report any accidents or injuries to Supervisors immediately. 

Load and unload products from trucks and trailers. 

Perform vehicle inspection such as checking fluid level and tire pressure. 

Notify supervisors about any major repairs and maintenances. 

Follow local and state driving laws and road regulations. 

Maintain the vehicle clean and safe. 

Collect payments from customer at the time of product delivery 

Work with support team to provide exceptional customer services and address customer concerns. 

Perform vehicle inspection before and after each trip 

Adhere to company operating policies and procedures. 

Maintain driving log, prepare vehicle performance forms and complete daily paperwork 

Provide special care in delivering fragile and hazardous products.

  • Ensure address on package matches up to delivery address.
  • Monitor traffic conditions to avoid delays.
  • Read and interpret maps and GPS directions.
  • Maintain logs of packages delivered.
  • Ensure inventory loads match shipping papers.

Requirements

  • Proven working experience as a delivery driver
  • Valid professional driver’s license
  • Ability to operate forklifts and tractors in a variety of weather and traffic conditions
