Overview:

Founded in 2002 by President William J. Clinton, the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) is a global health organization committed to strengthening integrated health systems around the world and expanding access to care and treatment for HIV/AIDS, malaria and other illnesses. Based on the premise that business oriented strategy can facilitate solutions to global health challenges, CHAI acts as a catalyst to mobilize new resources and optimize the impact of these resources to save lives, via improved organization of commodity markets and more effective local management. By working in association with governments and other NGO partners, CHAI is focused on large scale impact and, to date, CHAI has secured lower pricing agreements for treatment options in more than 70 countries. In addition, CHAI's teams are working side-by-side with over 30 governments to tackle many of the largest barriers to effective treatment and care.

Cameroon has one of the highest maternity mortality rate in the world. The MOH is implementing an ambitious program to significantly reduce maternal mortality over the next few years. In this light, CHAI is supporting the MOH to introuduce midwife mentoring in the Central and Eastern regions of Cameroon. In this light we are seeing very highly motivated, energetic and suitably qualified persons to support program delivery in Central and Eastern regions regions.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate program activities in the Central and Eastern regions 
  • Work with health facilities to plan delivery of mentoring activities
  • Liaise with midwife mentors to identify and find solutions to any challenges in delivering the mentoring program
  • Liaise with the regional focal point, districts, regional health services to ensure government ownership of the program
  • Work with other stakeholders to ensure synergy with other actions aimed at addressing maternal, neonatal and infant mortality
  • Support program reviews to ensure delivery according to plan and budget
  • Support Monitoring and evaluation activities including data collection, analysis and reporting.
  • Provide technical support for program data management, monitoring and evaluation
  • Coordinate, plan and support execution of all program training
  • Document the implementation of CHAI supported interventions and support the team in the preparation of donor reports
  • Organize and support logistics for field work
  • Perform other tasks as necessary

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Midwifery and or nursing with additional qualification in public health, epidemiology or related field
  • Experience in delivering midwifery services in developing country context
  • Minimum 3 years experience
  • Strong problem solving skills and analytical capabilities
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, set priorities, and work independently
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English and French
  • Ability to work effectively in a challenging political and multicultural environment
  • Ability to absorb and synthesize a broad range of information
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word
