Position: Biostatistician

Number: 1

Duration and type of contract: 12 months, full or part time (depending on the availability of the candidate)

Location: Yaounde, Cameroon

Background: R4D International (R4DI) is a research foundation promoting evidence-based practices in health and development (www.r4dinternational.org). This organization is recruiting a Senior Statistician to be responsible for statistical aspects of ongoing research projects, ensuring implementation of data collection protocol, data quality assessment and providing statistical analysis and interpretation of data and reporting of results.

Overview of the role:

Under the supervision of the Country Director, the incumbent will:

• Provide statistical support for studies, including study design, sample size calculations, patient randomization, statistical analyses, interpretation of data, and reporting of results;
• Write statistical analysis plans, including the definition of derived data sets, and the design of statistical tables, figures, and data listings for summary reports;
• Understands and uses relevant computer languages and software packages (e.g. SAS);
• Monitor and verify statistical analysis programs;
• Develop and manage database for relevant studies;
• Conduct selected statistical analyses and interprets results of these analyses;
• Review and approve integrated study reports;
• Assist in the preparation of biostatistics input to R4DI and partners research proposals;
• Monitoring and evaluation R4DI’s studies/projects;
• Perform other tasks as required.

Requirements:

• Minimum of a master degree in statistics, biostatistics or relevant field
• Minimum of 5 years experience in data management and analysis,
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English,
• Good command of French will be an asset,
• Availability to start work in January 2016.
