SOCIAL & ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST, GREENHOUSE GAS ACCOUNTING AND MODELLING SPECIALIST AND NATURAL RESOURCES MANAGEMENT GOVERNANCE SPECIALIST SHORT TERM CONSULTANCY TO BE BASED IN CAMEROON.
Countries well advanced in the REDD+ preparation phase have the option to develop an Emission Reduction Program (ERP) and submit to the Carbon Fund of the Forest Carbon Partnership Facility (FCPF). The Government of Cameroon elaborated and submitted and ER-PIN which was approved by the CF Participants in June 2016. After signing a Letter of Intent to sell emission reduction credits to the World Bank, the Government has received a grant to carry out in –depth studies that will inform the emission reduction program document.
In this perspective, the World Bank’s Environment & Natural Resources Global Practice (GENO7) seeks to recruit for the Cameroon Country office to support the preparation and implementation of the ERP in REDD+ Technical Secretariat.
Three (03) Short Term Consultants (STCs): Social & Environmental Specialist; Greenhouse gas accounting and modeling specialist and a Natural Resources Management Governance Specialist.
GREENHOUSE GAS ACCOUNTING AND MODELLING SPECIALIST
Duties and Responsibilities:
The Consultants will assist Environment & Natural Resources Global Practice (GEN07) to provide consistent and timely support to the REDD + TS. The Consultant will provide the following key functions:
Selection criteria
The successful candidate will be hold a Master degree and some relevant experience in at least one of the following fields: Rural Economics, Statistics, Agronomy, Forest management and remote sensing applied to agriculture. S/He must demonstrate strong analytical and quantitative skills coupled with the use of MS Excel. Mastery of other statistical, data processing (R, MS Access, STATA, GAMS…) and GIS (ArcMap, QGIS, GRASS etc.) software will be an added advantage. Competence in quantifying uncertainties associated with the greenhouse gas accounting is required. Working fluency in English and/or French required. Good writing skills in the English language will be an asset.
