The International rescue Committee, Cameroon Program is seeking
Position: Finance Assistant
Program: Finance
Location : Buéa
Type of Contract: Short term Limited Contract
Duration: 4 Month (with renewal option)
Start date : 1st September 2018
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The Finance Assistant is responsible in assisting the Adm/Finance Officer in re-reviewing of documentation for correct coding, arithmetic accuracy, collating commitments for BVA report, Grants filing, review of cash books and reconciliation, compiling monthly cash projections, part take in month end closing process, facilitate transfers to the field offices etc.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Make cash & cheque payments on authorized and approved vouchers
- Ensure that all vouchers are properly supported and stamped and disbursements documented.
- Participate in daily cash count, and ensure daily cash and spreadsheet balances agree
- Update monthly cash & bank books with all transactions and their relevant T codes, ensuring that cash balance is correct at all times.
- Cover for Admin/Finance Officer during periods of absence or leave.
- Photocopy necessary vouchers for donor reporting monthly.
- Prepare commitments from the cash books and other expenses pending verification
- Prepare weekly program and travel advance reports for Admin/Finance Officer`s review
- Follow up and ensure taxes and social securities are settled on monthly basis
- Actively participate in IRC internal and external audit.
- Develop weekly work plan, and prioritize tasks
Month end closing
- Ensure all files sent to Maroua are filed with the appropriates supporting documentation attached
Filling
- File all payment vouches regularly and access for easy reference
BVAS
- Prepare commitments from the cash books and other expenses pending verification
Cash management
- Prepare daily cash balances and present to Admin/Finance Officer/Field Co.
- Monitor cash usage and advise the Admin/Finance Manager/Field Co of possible unusual activity
- Report to the Admin/Finance Officer any irregularities on policy and procedures
- Follow any new procedures and guidelines designated in circulars from FC/CD
Other finance duties
- Develop weekly work plan, and prioritize tasks.
- Follow up and ensure taxes and social securities are settled on monthly basis.
- Cover for other finance staff as required.
- Actively participate in IRC internal and external audit.
- Perform other duties as may be assigned by your supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education (Knowledge) Higher
- GCE ‘O’ level or Diploma in Finance or Administration
- Experience: Previous experience of handling cash & cheque payment.
Skills and Abilities:
- Committed to the mission and principles of the International Rescue Committee,
- Excellent computer skills including word processing and spreadsheet functions,
- Excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills,
- Attention to detail,
- Ability to communicate clearly and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- Experience in Microsoft office such word; excel, willing to travel to field sites as required
