Responsibilities

Job Purpose/Summary

The IT Infrastructure Operations Specialist is in charge of the effective day to day management of the IT Infrastructure Operations, to assure provision of reliable, stable, optimal network services to the business.

Key Accountabilities

The IT Infrastructure Operations Specialist occupies a critical position in ensuring IT Networks and Infrastructure support operations are managed properly as follows:

Key Technologies: 

• Ensuring the installation, configuration of Local Area Network(LAN) and Wide Area Network(WAN) systems.
• Assure the reliability and availability of the core backbone network node and telecom transmissions based on on optical fibre Microware, Wimax and other systems.
• Strategic Direction: Assist the IT Infrastructure Operations and Systems Team Lead and the Head of IT Infrastructure in developing the IT Infrastructure design and planning in line with the Team objectives and plans.
• IT Core Services Management: Play a key role in the IT Support Model in managing, networks availability, incidents, changes and requests to ensure business continuity in line with  Addax Petroleum standards and industry best practices.
• Performance Management: Ad-hoc performance reports to the IT Infrastructure Operations and Systems Team Lead.
• Remote Site Support: Provide IT support to remote sites.
• Compliance: Complies with the Company HSSE

Interface

The incumbent is part on an IT Team of six staff providing services to a population of 120 nationals and 10 expatriates. 

Internal Interfaces

• Works closely with the IT Data Centre and Datacomms Team Lead and the Telecom Administrator.
• Member of IT Emergency Response Team.

External Interfaces

• Interact with senior technical executives of external vendors.

Key Challenges

• Maintain consisten WAN and Telecom links uptime of 99% on average annually
• Maintain a consistent VHF Radiocommunication system uptime of 99% on average annually.
• Constant monitoring of APCC WAN and LAN systems.
• Ensures preventive maintenance of WAN and LAN systems.

Qualifications

• At least a Bachelor's degree it IT, Computer sciences or related fields.
• Cisco Certified Network Associate(CCNA)/Cisco
• Bilingual(Fluent in both oral and written English and French).
