Job Title: Agro Business Development Manager

PURPOSE

To identify, qualify and build a sustainable, competitive and compliant local supplier base in Cameroon over next 2 years covering: 

• Raw materials – Sorghum, Cassava, Maize grits, Sugar and other relevant cereals. This involves liaison with donor agencies/government & non-governmental organizations (NGO’s) as well as close collaboration with the Corporate Relations and Africa Sustainable Agriculture Directors
• Packaging – labels, crowns, returnable bottles/crates and PET bottles

To develop collaboratively and manage LRM supply chain, Grain Quality Audit Procedures and crop yield improvement activities in all cereal growing areas. 

To manage Grains Quality activities through active liaison and consultation with the operational sites, GBTC, local and international cereal base research institutes. 

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Agronomy, Agricultural Engineering, Food or Cereal Science.

Experience required & skills:

• Proven relevant 5+ year’s post-qualification experience, including development of agricultural value chains within a forward thinking, fast paced and value-adding blue-chip FMCG environment.
• Strong commercial acumen, with excellent communication, influencing and presentation skills, both verbal and written, with ability to readily engage and influence a range of colleagues and senior stakeholders.
• Analytical, numerate, enthusiastic, tenacious. Sound financial-fundamentals awareness and the ability to contribute to the wider business process outside immediate functional responsibilities.
• Strong lT skills base, including mastery in Excel and advanced proficiency in PowerPoint.
• Ability to anticipate and plan effectively, monitoring and measuring progress in a timely fashion.
• Inter-cultural sensitivity and ability to ‘flex’ approach to meet the needs of a diverse community.

DESIRABLE 

• Professional Procurement qualification desirable (CIPS/SPSM/MBA).
• Knowledge of Sorghum, Maize or Cassava agricultural supply chains, including high yielding varieties.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

As Agro Business Development Manager you should be able to:

• Own the Strategic Management of all locally sourced Raw/Packaging material spend categories, managing them to deliver maximum business alignment, value and quality for GCSA
• Carry out all GCSA sourcing activities within all locally sourced Raw/Packaging material spend categories ensuring they remain in line with the strategy and policy, and are compliant at all times
• Exceed delivery of Procurement performance targets for your categories
• Protect our brands and business through effective management of risk, compliance, sustainability and governance
