DESCRIPTION

APDEL is an association under Cameroonian law with its headquarters in Dschang in the West region of Cameroon. APDEL's mission is to fight against social inequalities that hinder the development of vulnerable persons. It carries out its activities in 3 regions of Cameroon (Center, North-West and West). The organization's interventions are focused on protection, food security and livelihoods, social cohesion and peace promotion, and health. More details: www.apdel.cm  

In the framework of its activities, APDEL is looking for a motivated, dynamic and experienced Communication and Advocacy Officer.

OBJECTIVES AND MAIN ACTIVITIES

Develop the association's communication strategy

• Develop with the collaboration of other staff, the communication strategy of the association and supervise its implementation;
• Develop a newsletter for the association's website;
• Monitor information on topics of major interest to the association through the establishment of an internal press review (monthly);
• Develop and strengthen the association's links with the media;
• Monitor and evaluate the media impact of the association's activities, producing a periodic report with recommendations;
• Drafting of reports and minutes.

Strengthen the visibility and leadership of the association

• Develop communication and visibility tools for projects and ensure the implementation of communication plans for the different projects of the association;
• Strengthen the visibility of APDEL's activities on digital platforms, generating relevant and timely content;
• Create audio visual products, photography, infographics, video, etc. for publication on social networks;
• Manage APDEL's social media accounts and website, and provide them with content;
• Contribute to strengthening APDEL's presence within the consultation bodies on issues of interest to the association at the national and international levels;
• Develop relationships with media, update regularly the association’s press file.

Contribute to project development and capacity building

• Support the technical teams in the identification and development of new projects;
• Coordinate fundraising campaigns conducted by APDEL and its partners;
• Strengthen the capacity of teams on media and communication issues.

Advocacy

• Ensure the implementation and follow-up of advocacy actions, in connection with and under the supervision of the Program Coordinator;
• Ensure an effective presence in medias for advocacy on the themes of the projects implemented by the organization;
• Continuously advocate with authorities (administrative, traditional, religious, etc.) to ensure the proper implementation of APDEL projects.

PROFILE REQUESTED

• At least a Bachelor's degree in communication;
• 3 years’ experience in a similar position, including audio-visual/digital production;
• Experience working in civil society is an asset;
• Very good knowledge of software for the development of communication materials (Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Creative Design, Publisher, Canva, etc.), as well as the Office package (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
• Project Management Knowledge;
• Good knowledge of communication platforms (Facebook, WhatsApp, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.);
• Excellent advocacy and reporting skills;
• Knowledge of development communication;
• Be bilingual.
